Chatham County Malware Attack
October 30, 2020
See Chatham County Press Release HERE
This notice went out to Builders 10/30/20:
Please be advised - There has been a malware attack on Chatham County and currently they have zero access to any of their technology. We just went through this in Durham, so hopefully the Register of Deeds in Durham can be of assistance, I will work on making that connection. In the meantime, please understand the staff is as frustrated by this as we are and give them a bit of grace during the weeks to come, hopefully it won’t be weeks...
Finally, see below email message received by David Camp:
"Unfortunately, we have to do everything the 'old fashioned' way with pen and paper. So we will need Permit # and Address, Inspection requested when calling for inspection. Also it is imperative the record card of inspections and permit be at the site. Currently we are not able to produce any CO's or other documents, we are working on it. We are accepting new permits by 'paper' only which must be deposited in our foyer area in the drop off bin. It is unfortunate this is somewhat like going back in time about 25 years, but it is temporary and necessary. I hope to have more information soon." DC
I was also told that no real estate transactions will be possible for the immediate future. Nothing from this week, going back to Monday has been recorded.
